He was the son of Charles Leroy Pailer Sr. and Lillian Pailer. He is predeceased by his wife Martha Ann, brother Ken, sister Betty, and son-in-law Richard Cross. He is survived by daughter Jennifer (Chad) and stepchildren Patricia, Kelly (Wade), and David. He is also survived by children Joni (Bob) and Jeff (Maureen) from first wife Gloria (deceased). He leaves grandchildren and step grandchildren Cody, Dylan, Hailey, David, Brian, Bobby, Ezra, and Alex, and great grandchildren Ciarra, Samatha, Gia, and Sylvia, and Chad's daughter Ava, all who he loved so dearly. He also leaves dear friends Beth and Steve Sekinger and many loving friends and neighbors.
Mr. Pailer was born in Baltimore in 1927. He went to Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and served in the Navy. He worked at Baltimore Copper Paint Company with marine coatings. Eventually, the shipping business brought him to the Gulf of Mexico. He lived in Spring, Texas and then Metarie, LA, where he worked at Lee Engineering. He was a proud member of the Masonic Order.
Mr. Pailer was known as "Mr. Charlie" to many friends and neighbors in Metairie. Quite simply, he was a good person, a family man, and to those who knew him, a kind soul. Originally being a Marylander, he was often found explaining to the fine folks of Louisiana why crabs should be steamed…not boiled!
A private burial service will be held in Baltimore at a later date.
