Dr. Cyril Lee Mundell Jr., 74, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Bradley Mundell, and his son, Bradley Fitzgerald Mundell of Metairie and by other family members in North Carolina, Florida, Iowa and Illinois. He is preceded in death by his parents Cyril Lee and Mae Fitzgerald Mundell.
Lee was born in Mason City, Iowa and spent his childhood and young adult life in Eustis, Florida. He received his B.S., B.A. degree from the University of Florida in 1967 and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina in 1976. Lee and his wife Sandra moved to Jefferson Parish in 1981 to continue his teaching career accepting a position at Loyola University. Dr. Mundell had a true passion for the work he did at Loyola, teaching and doing research in statistics and quantitative methods. He loved Loyola and loved working with Loyola students both in and out of class serving as faculty advisor to the MBA Association, Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity, Beta Gamma Sigma honor society and the Loyola Club Sculling Team. He was awarded Associate Professor of Decision Science, Emeritus, upon his retirement in 2012. Lee was a member of John Calvin Presbyterian Church serving as an Elder in the church on numerous committees. Lee’s cheerful smile and gentle soul will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
