Diane Groom Sakowski, age 75, was called to her heavenly home while surrounded by her loved ones on Monday, March 27, 2023. She was born on May 10, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Joan Lorene and Robert Lewis Groom. She later migrated to New Orleans. Her Siblings are Marlene Groom Brown, Tim and the late Tom Groom (Twins), Marcia Groom Cadis, and David Rogers.
Diane and her first spouse, the late Robert Jude Frosch, had three children— Theresa Newcomb, Robin Redford, and Robbie Frosch (Twins). Diane later married her second husband, the late Glenn Eugene Clark, and had her second set of twins, Lalaina and Shane Clark.
In her teen years, Diane attended Francis T. Nicolls Senior High School in New Orleans. She was employed by various companies as a Customer Service Specialist, consistently promoting impeccable and elevated service levels with her enthusiastic and welcoming approach. She later pursued her passion for gardening at Tulane University for many years and remained their Groundskeeper until retirement.
Diane truly lived a life filled with purpose by pursuing the simple pleasures within her sphere of influence. She often carved quality time and maximized her interactions with family, friends, and neighbors. Her innate gift to design, and maintain thriving gardens was profoundly stunning and impactful. She cherished listening to her oldies collection of 45s while enjoying artwork, crafting, and creating Stars of Hope for children at St. Jude Hospital. She happily did that along with many other hobbies that she shared with her friends and family. Diane was a Loyal Supporter of St. Jude Children's Hospital, Louisiana Sheriffs' Honorary Program, and Vietnam Veterans of America
She is survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her loving Yorkie, Harley, who dearly misses her love and affection.
She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at City Park, 1 City Park Drive, New Orleans, 70001, on Saturday, May 6, from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. Private burial will take place at a later date. Donations made in lieu of flowers will be used to honor Diane Sakowski’s favorite cause, St. Jude Hospital.
