Donald G. Vickrey

Donald G. Vickrey, age 87, of Metairie, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 24, 2025. He is the son of the late Ralph R. Vickrey and Irene Holmes Vickrey. He is preceded in death by his brothers, C.L. Miller and Billy Vickrey, and his sisters, Avora West and Juanita Dunshie. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Joanne Lowry Vickrey; sons, Mike Vickrey (Donna) and Dwayne Vickrey; grandchildren, Christopher (Chrissy), Joseph, and Michael Vickrey (Kaylee), and great-grandchildren, Harper, Lucy, Paige, and Hudson Vickrey, along with numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Donald served in the U.S. Army and in Okinawa. He retired from Auto Driveaway and worked for Southern and Northwest Airlines. He was a family man with a huge heart; he adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life service for Donald will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 1st Baptist Church of Kenner in the Fellowship Hall, 1313 Clay St, Kenner, LA 70062. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will take place on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 10:00 am at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, at 34888 Grantham College Drive, Slidell, LA 70460.
