

Earl J. ("E.J.) Fernandez, Jr., age 69, passed away at his home in Kenner on Wednesday, March 11th, 2015. He is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Murdith Fernandez of New Orleans and daughter Keri Beth. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Janice St. Julien Fernandez; four daughters: Kimberly Fernandez (Gwen); Kelly Ladut (Guillermo); and Kristina Martin (Steve); five grandchildren: Kelsey Wilton, Brittany Liebel, Laine Wilton, Katie Liebel, and Jordan Jackson; and four great-grandchildren: Jaxon, Chloe, Ava, and Banx. He is also survived by his brother Michael. Earl graduated from Nichols High School in 1963 and attended Southeastern University where he studied music on scholarship. He was a Kenner Reserve Police Officer, private investigator and owner of Code Five Investigations, carpenter, mechanic, and industrial battery salesman He was an original member of the New Orleans bands The Sunsets during the 1960's and Nantucket during the 1970's. His band Nantucket was on the verge of a musical comeback. He loved his family, cooking, restoring old cars, and playing the trumpet. Burial will be private. A memorial celebrating Earl's life will be held at a later date.
