Mrs. Elizabeth McIntyre Engel

Elizabeth McIntyre Engel passed away, surrounded by her loving family, peacefully entering into eternal life on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at the age of 93. Born on April 16, 1917, she is preceded in death by her parents Maud and Edmond McIntyre and her brothers Paul and Edmond McIntyre. She was the beloved wife of the late F. G. Allen Engel. Mother of Jane Pinto, Jerry Engel (Patricia), Beth Puneky, Madeline Engel, Allen Engel (Mary Jane), Paulette Fontenot (Randy), Susan Boehm (Tim), and spiritually adopted son Rev. Joseph Phan Trong Quang of Viet Nam. Grandmother of Christopher Pinto (Rachel), Jessica Lawrence (Will), Kimberly Engel, Kyle Engel, Erica Engel-Reardon (Ian), Tara Tracey (Billy), Blake Puneky (Allison), Elizabeth Beach (Jake), Danielle Stuart (Brooks), Brittany Stuart (Ty), Emily Fontenot, Kristin Kepler (Stevie), Katie Boehm, and Luke Boehm. Great-Grandmother of Josh, Wyatt, and Sophie Pinto, Cole Puneky, Hallie, Kohen, Porter and Adeline Stuart, Shanie, Sydney, and Kolt Kepler, Ava Klair. A native New Orleanian, she was a resident of Metairie for the past 52 years. She was a Parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen, where she was an active member in the Altar Society, Outreach Ministry serving St. Anthony Nursing Home, a dedicated member of the Fatima Rosary Group for the past 35 years, the St. Jude Guild, and the Third Order Lay Carmelite, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapter for 15 years. She received the Order of St. Louis Award on April 24, 1977 in recognition of leadership to her parish church.

Her greatest pleasure was being with her family and her greatest gift was her faith in God, which was and will continue to be cherished by all.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 6425 West Metairie Avenue in Metairie, LA on Saturday morning, February 5, 2011 beginning at 9:00 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 12:00 noon.
