Gail Marie Burns

Beloved wife of Gary Burns. Loving mother of Doug and Dustin Burns. Proud grandmother of Mia and Tyler Burns. Daughter of John Peter Allen and the late Mary Grisaffi Allen. Sister of Sally Ann Westbrook (and husband, Don). Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Aged 60 years, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and a resident of Gonzales, Louisiana for the past eight years. Gail graduated from Sacred Heart. She and Gary married in 1972 and shared a deep and lasting love for one another for over 42 years. They started a family in 1977 and built their own business together. She worked up to the position of Office Manager for Dr. Bruce Razza, M.D. from 1992 until 2002 and she enjoyed that time immensely. She met some of her best friends during that time. Although she continued to work in the medical industry, she was happiest spending as much time as she could with family and friends. She was always involved in learning new things and continuing her education by taking classes towards her degree. She spent most of her time helping her children and grandchildren, whom she cherished very much. She was actively involved in several animal rights groups and organizations. She had a real passion for all animals, big or small, wild or tame. She loved children and was a big advocate against abuse involving a child or animal in any way. She had a genuine concern for all people, helping them through tough times and taking on their worries as her own. She had an amazing capacity for empathy and was kind towards everyone. She will always be loved and cherished by all who knew her and she will be missed beyond measure. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Service from Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home Chapel 4747 Veterans Blvd. Metairie, Louisiana on Friday afternoon April 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until time of services.
