George Edward Ramirez, Jr., of Metairie, La, passed away October 21, 2021 after a brief illness. George was 96 years old. George was a graduate of Metairie High School. After high school, he joined the Merchant Marines and served honorably for three years during World War II. George was drafted into the Army in the Korean War. George would later join the American Legion Post 175 in Metairie.
George worked at the Blue Plate Company before joining the United States Postal Service. He was proud to have worked for many years for the post office until he retired. In his spare time, George would golf and round dance with friends and his beloved wife, AnnaLee. George and AnnaLee belonged to several organizations including SCOTS (Single Catholics Over Thirty), the one in which the met. They took many trips to various parts of the United States and Europe. They were both very active in the Catholic Church especially their parish St. Ann, and loved to visit holy sites on their trips. They also belonged to the Meir group and visited Medugorje.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, AnnaLee.
George is survived by his sister Sylvia Ramirez Taylor. His many nieces, nephew, great nieces, and great nephews believe him to have been a fantastic uncle, with many considering him a second father.

Visitation will begin at 10am on Monday, November 8, 2021, at St. Ann Catholic Church and Shrine, 3601 Transcontinental Drive, Metairie, LA. Funeral Mass will be offered at 12pm. Burial will be held at All Saints Mausoleum. The online guestbook is available at www.leitzeaganfuneralhome.com.
