Georgette Smira Broderick

Georgette ‘Gigi’ Smira Broderick ended her journey on earth peacefully at Emeritus Sommerville Memory Care Assisted Living in Kenner, Louisiana with her caregivers, Julia and Chantel on Tuesday, February 28th, 2012 at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her husband Oliver Daniel Broderick and her parents: Marie Chehardy and Antoine Smira; also her sister Lorraine Smira and her brothers Dr. Albert G. Smira, Charles and Edward Smira. Mother of Lorraine Elizabeth Broderick, John Daniel Broderick (Arleen) Mandeville, La. and Georgette Noel David (Seth) Pottersville, NY. Grandmother of Charles G. Favret, Jr. (Zaida ‘Zee’ Elias) Round Rock, TX and Timothy M. Favret (Barbara Day). Great grandmother of Elizabeth Amber Favret. Also survived by two special cousins Marie ‘Violet’ Abraham and Adele Ruckert. Gigi was a special part of David and Kathy Landry, Nola and Rick Aromy, Robbie and Bobbie Day, Ann and David Neil, Heather and Steve Jones and Ashley Thomas families. Georgette was born in New Orleans and resided in Metairie 60 years. She graduated from John McDonough High School and Soule’ Business College. A special thanks to the loving and caring staff at Memory Care, especially Flora, Jerry, Sonia, Brandy and Lana. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp, 1600 N. Causeway on Monday, March 5, 2011 at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 9:00 am.
