Hazel Marie Luent

Hazel Marie Derouen Rodrigue Caminita Luent, 94, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2012. She was born in Weeks Island, Louisiana on September 9, 1918 and was a long time resident of Harahan, Louisiana. She was married to Louis Rodrigue, Sr.(deceased) for 27 years. She was married to Peter Caminita (deceased) for six years. She was married to Leo Luent (deceased) for 27 years. Hazel is survived by her daughter and four sons: Alice Garcia (Tommy), Louis Rodrigue (Pat), Victor Rodrigue (Connie), Clifton Rodrigue (Sharon) and Ray Rodrigue (Suzanne). She is survived by 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Margie D. Scott of Chauvin, Louisiana.

She was a woman admired by all who knew her. She was a member of St.Rita Catholic Church for 55 years. She was an active member of the Harahan Senior Citizens Home and taught crocheting and was a member of the choir. She was known for her gardening and beautiful yard. She loved music and loved to dance and cook for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eval Derouen and Olive Verret Derouen (Grandpa and Grandma Slim), and her four brothers (Harry, Viley, Lawless, Raymond) and her three sisters (Olive, Gloria and Daisey).

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001 on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 12:00 Noon. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until Mass time. Interment in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
