Hazel Hendrick Oubre

Hazel Hendrick Oubre, age 95, was called home to the Lord on Monday, January 11, 2016. Beloved wife of 57 years to the late Joseph P. Oubre. Mother of Linda Oubre Koenig (husband, Steven Koenig, Sr.), Joanne Oubre Masangya (the late Randy Kingsmill, Jr.) and Susan Oubre Varble. Grandmother of Cherie Koenig Moore, Rachel Koenig Kiedrowski, Kelly Masangya Plaier, Kristy Masangya, Jennifer Roubaud, Scott Roubaud and the late Steven Koenig, Jr. Sister of the late May Hendrick Case. Daughter of the late Clifford Hendrick and Agnes Badeaux Blank. Aunt of Shirley Versher. Also survived by 7 great grandchildren. Mrs. Oubre contributed to the war effort during WWII by helping build airplanes with Consolidated Aircraft at the Lakefront. She served several terms as president of the Parent Teachers League at Francis T. Nicholls High School. She was a member of the Charity Crib Auxiliary, First English Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school classes and she attended Atonement Lutheran Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie, LA on Friday morning, January 15, 2016 beginning at 9:00 AM with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s chapel. Interment will be in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to First English Lutheran Church, 3701 Cleary Ave., Metairie, LA 70002 in Mrs. Oubre’s memory.
