Son of the late Anna Cynar Grzych and Felix Grzych. Brother of the late Mitchell Grzych, Bill Grzych, Stanley Grzych Sr., Frank Grzych, Helen Grzych, Joseph Grzych, Chester Grzych and Rose Grzych Luc. Step-Brother to the late Engeline, Elsie, Clara, Edna & Elouishid Martin. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Grzych was a member of Jackson Ave. Evangelical Congregation where he met his beloved wife and will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
Aged 93 years, born in Detroit, Michigan to Polish immigrants, a native of Hamtramck, Michigan and a resident of River Ridge, Louisiana for the past 48 years. Henry was a graduate of Wood Jr. College in Mathiston, Mississippi and a graduate from Delta State College in Cleveland, Mississippi where he received his Bachelors in Biological Science. Henry was a WWII Veteran who served his country as a member of the Army Air Corps, U.S. Airforce and Merchant Marines. His time in the military allowed him to travel to far and exotic countries. But, somehow traveling along I-10 scared the heck out of him. He retired in 1993 after working for decades for the United States Postal Service. He was also proud of the years he worked as a security guard for Tulane University in New Orleans.
God doesn’t make men like Henry Grzych anymore. He had a heart of gold, always a kind word and lived by the philosophy that there are no strangers in the world, only friends you haven’t met. He was a charismatic man who loved to tell his life story to anyone who would listen, and he was truly an amazing storyteller. He had the gift to remember the details of events that happened years ago with unbelievable precision. Henry would always attend family gatherings and events with a camera in hand in order to capture the special moments forever. He loved to write long letters and cards to his family and friends. Henry would spend weeks filling Christmas cards with words of love. He loved to work in the yard, spend time with his family and create beautiful art on paint by number canvases. During the last year of his life while quarantined because of the Covid-19 pandemic, he created a painting for each of his grandchildren and gifted one to each of them last Christmas. It was a fitting gift of the beauty of his wonderful soul. He lived his life devoted to family and there was no better example of love for all of them.
