James Hataway

James E. Hataway took his final fishing trip to be with the fisher of men on Thursday, October 6, 2011. He is survived by his long-time companion, Jackie Brumley for many years. Loving father of Haviland Hataway (Terry) and the late Britt Hataway. Proud grandfather of Joshua Hernandez, Leslie Canale (Gary), Preston Corey Hataway (Stevie) and the late Lindsey Hataway. Great grandfather of Preston and Austin Canale. Son of the late Carmen Sistrunk Hataway and Wordie P. Hataway, Sr. Preceeded in dead his Brother, Wordie “Pete” Hataway. James is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss him as well.

He was a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and most of all, loved being outdoors. He was known for being a kind gentleman with a dry sense of humor.

Age 79, a native of Alexandria, LA and a resident of River Ridge for numerous years. He is a Navy Veteran and served in the Korean War. He was a dedicated engineer who loved his job and retired from Bell South after 42 years of service.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 6:30 pm at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA. Visitation will begin at 4:30 pm until funeral time. We will continue to celebrate the life of James with a Funeral Service at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, 701 Jackson St., Alexandria, LA on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 10:00 am. Visitation on Sunday evening, October 9, 2011, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Monday, 10:00am until funeral time. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball, LA
