Jimmie Ann Gessner Dugas, a retired chaplain and administrative assistant, went home Sunday evening, November 11, 2012 after a short illness. She was 80 years old. Ms. Dugas was born in Chattanooga, TN and attended high school in Meridian, MS. She also attended Louisiana State University.
In 1995, Ms. Dugas was honored with the Order of St. Louis Medal for dedication and service to the Archdiocese of New Orleans. She worked at Our Lady of Divine Providence for 14 years and served on the church parish council. She trained and served as a hospital chaplain at Mercy/Baptist Hospital in New Orleans and East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Milton Joseph Dugas. She is survived by her daughter, Lee Ann Dugas, her sister, Bethoe Gessner Levy, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, November 15, 2012 starting at 9am at Our Lady of Divine Providence Church, 1000 North Starrett Road, Metairie, followed by a Mass at 11am. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA. In lieu of flowers, please consider the charity of your choice.
