In her retirement years Joan went from working at Kmart to a nursing facility with the debilitating Alzheimer’s disease. She fought the disease with all her might, but in time she lost that fight. At 86 years old, she passed away peacefully at her daughter Lynn’s home, surrounded by family. The Family wants to give thanks to the St. Catherine’s Hospice Team for the compassionate care given to her in the last stage of her life. Preceded in death by her mother, Eula Morris Trahan, and father, Earl Louis Trahan. Survived by; daughter Lynn H Giavotella “Jules,” son Mark Louis Hebert “Nancy,” Darlene Davis “Lowell.” She had eight grandchildren: Jason Giavotella “Stephanie,” Jamie Giavotella, Justin Giavotella, Jeaneé Dupree, Nicole Smith “Ryan,” Nancie Meyer, Joan Hebert, Grace Hebert. Along with three great grandchildren: Jace & Elaina Smith, Audrey Giavotella.
Funeral arrangements will be at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA 70006, on Friday, October 1, 2021 with visitation at 11 a.m., Prayer Services following in the Chapel. Burial following, St. Patrick Cemetery #1.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "Daughters of the Nile Foundation" in "Memory of Joan Hebert" checks payable to Daughters of the Nile Foundation c/o Herbie Kay Lundquest 6705 Mesa Dr., Austin, TX 78731-2817. Your donation will go to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
