It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of John E. Kent, Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, treasured friend, and one of New Orleans’ most beloved florists. John passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving children, leaving behind a legacy of beauty, kindness, and deep love.

John had an extraordinary gift for bringing beauty into the world - not only through his artful arrangements, but also through his generous spirit and warm, kind heart. For decades, his floral creations graced weddings, celebrations, and memorials alike, offering comfort and joy to countless families throughout the city.

He was known not only for his talent and creativity, but also for his unwavering compassion, his quiet strength, and his infectious smile. He had a way of making everyone feel special — whether you were a lifelong friend or someone walking into his shop for the first time. To know him was to be touched by true kindness.

Son of the late, John E. Kent, Sr and Shirley Lutz Kent.

John is survived by his loving children, Kris J Kent, Kortnei Kent Cucinella (Anthony), Kylei Kent Cucinella (Paul) and Konnei Kent Auglair (AJ); his grandchildren, Logan Kent, Colin and Madison Cucinella, Ava and Rylee Cucinella & Sophie and Aiden Auglair; and his grand dogs, Jax and Ace.

A visitation will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home located at 4747 Veterans Blvd, Metairie, LA 70006 on Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM. Interment will be held privately at a later date.

John’s memory will forever bloom in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
