John Joseph Mahler III, age 96, of Metairie, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. John was born in New Orleans, LA on October 14, 1928. He was a former longtime employee and retired from Bell South around 1986. For many years he enjoyed meeting friends for coffee at McDonald's in Metairie.
John was preceded in death by his wife Marie Favaloro Mahler; his sons, Dennis J. Mahler, Darren J. Mahler, and Daniel J. Mahler; and his parents, John Joseph Mahler, Jr. and Rose Manale Mahler.
Survivors include his daughter, Pamela Mahler Pizzolato; his grandchildren, Shane Pizzolato, Corey Pizzolato (Brennan), Joseph Mahler (Chelsey), Sharie Mahler (Jordan), Kaitlin Pizzolato Groh (Nick), and Nicholas Mahler; his 6 great grandchildren, Penny, Zoe, Annie, Noelle, Rowan, Iris, and one on the way.
A visitation for John will be held Friday, September 12, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA 70006. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the chapel at 12:00 PM. Interment following Funeral Mass at Greenwood Cemetery, New Orleans, LA.
