OBITUARY

Kenneth Holmes Morrison

23 December, 1931 – 13 April, 2023
IN THE CARE OF

Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home

Kenneth Holmes Morrison passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at the age of 91. He was born on December 23, 1931 in Parsons, KA and was a longtime resident of New Orleans, LA.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Morrison Sr. and Francis Tullis and his brother, Gerald Morrison.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Morrison, his children, Jerry Morrison (Jennifer) and Karen Sizeler (Ricky), step-children, Melissa McGrane (Mitchell) and Huey Britt, grandchildren, Abigail Polacek (Eric), Julie Yeadon (David), and Madison and Michael McGrane, and great-grandchildren, Luke and Annabelle Polacek.

Kenny lived a great life, turning humble beginnings into great success. He spent his childhood traveling in a medicine show, which landed him on the streets of New Orleans. He found refuge at the Waldo Burton Memorial Boys Home on Carrollton Ave., where he had shelter, 3 meals a day, and received an education. Though he was well cared for, he eventually ran away to join the Navy. However, when they discovered he was underage, they sent him back to the home. Once he was finally old enough, he joined the Air Force and served during the Korean War as a B-29 mechanic. After his service, he continued his love of aviation while working for TACA, Louisiana Land and Exploration, Tidewater Marine, and Copeland Enterprises.

Kenny was an avid storyteller, sharing colorful tales that although not always politically correct, were always amusing. He loved all animals and the needy ones always found a home with him. Retirement found him swinging on the porch with Kathy, watching the action go by. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of sharing his company and lively spirit.

In the words of his granddaughter, “He low key taught us to live for what makes us happy and be daring. Oh what a life he had.”

Kenny requested that no services be held.
