Leona Uzzetta Adams passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving children, after a brief illness at the age of 82. Leona was born June 5, 1942 in New Orleans, LA. She was preceded in death by her mother, Leona F. Uzzetta and father, Cyrus R. Uzzetta, Sr., brother, Cyrus R. Uzzetta, Jr. and husband, Robert J. Richards and her ex-husband, Earl J. Adams (father of her daughters). She is survived by her loving sister, Judith Uzzetta, her adoring three daughters, Wendy Adams-Lyons (Michael Ray), Stephanie Nielsen (Robert Claude), and Nona Colombo (Anthony Kirsch, Jr.) and nephews Mark and Dante Uzzetta and extended family!
She was a true New Orleanian, "Who Knew What It Means To Miss New Orleans". She loved the culture, food, arts and entertainment. She relocated after Hurricane Katrina to Natchez, MS, but always considered NOLA her home.
She was a retired interior decorator, kitchen, bath and closet designer as well as an accomplished seamstress. She made custom draperies, upholstery, wedding gowns, Mardi Gras costumes, and had a meticulous eye for fabrics, trim and interior design. What she enjoyed most in life was sharing time with her devoted family whom she instilled with her values of individualism, independence and a love for all things gentle, kind, creative and beautiful. She was a splendid cook, and a pure soul, filled with only genuine good and love.
The family extends its thanks to all the Ochsner Post Surgical and ICU Team Members who cared for our mother directly. And a special thanks to Stephen Pregantis, who selflessly gave Leona his own personal scapular to carry her into the arms of our Lord. A special thanks also to ICU nurse Sarah and clergy, as they lovingly helped Leona with her transition. May God bless all of you!
