It is with heavy hearts on earth and joyful ones in heaven that we announce the passing of Lilia E. Hubbard on Saturday, April 6. She will be met by her husband, Clifford D. Hubbard, and is survived by her daughter Maria del Socorro Hubbard, son Clifford Danilo Hubbard and his wife Jan, grandchildren Clifford Nicholas Hubbard and Jennifer Hubbard Lewis, and great granddaughter Sydney Lewis.
A graveside service will be held at the Garden of Memories at 1:00pm on Saturday, April 13. The family will receive friends after the service at the Hubbard Family Home.
“Miss Lilia”, as she was known, was a homemaker, a poet and an artist. She was featured in news programs across Latin America for her Barbie doll-sized doll house and was recognized by the City of New Orleans for her Meritorious Contribution to the City for her mosaic art with Mardi Gras beads. She loved this, her adopted country, and especially this exceptional city that invited her to create the life she had always envisioned for herself.
Miss Lilia was the unforgettable kind. Her energy touched your soul immediately or eventually and she always left you with a good story to tell. She maintained new and old friendships with her unique charm.
Miss Lilia is resting now in the sacred heart of Jesus where all sins are forgiven and a new life begins.
