

She is preceded in death by her parents, Luis Bustamante and Lucila Hernandez, and her siblings, Enrique Bustamante, Pepe Bustamante, Armando Bustamante, Emelina Leyro, Luisa Sanchez, and Maruca Norton.
She is survived by her brother, Juan I. Bustamante (Maria), nephew, Adrian I. Bustamante(Melissa), and nieces, Lucy B. Rasco (Richard) and Caridad M. Bustamante. She is also survived by her great-nieces and great-nephews, Reese, Alejandro, Carolina, and Nicolas, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Born in Havana Cuba, Lucila migrated with her family to the United States as a political Cuban refugee in 1969. Though she had no biological children, she adored her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She was a deeply spiritual person and was a constant example of the love of Christ. She was an excellent cook and dedicated herself to always having a hot Cuban meal on the table for her family and clean home. Lucila was elegant and fun woman who loved to travel the world visiting her many family members. Despite her limited ability to speak English, she created beautiful and loving relationships with everyone she met through the way that she hugged tightly and prayed fiercely for them.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 4640 Canal St, New Orleans, LA. Visitation will be held from 12PM-1PM, with a Mass to begin at 1PM.
