

Margaret Prior Clark died peacefully in her home December 10th at the age of 92. She was born on June 6, 1924 in Oakland, California, and lived in Metairie for the last 48 years. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Augustus Walter Clark; her son, Martin Arthur Clark; her parents Martin Arthur Prior and Mary Margaret Rush Prior; her brothers Arthur, Marvin, Kenneth and Leland. She is survived by her sister, Maureen Alice Prior Watson; her children, Augustus Clark III (Diane), Daniel Clark (Celie), Alice Gurtler (Fritz), Theresa Gray (Dan), Cecilia Mitchell (Thomas), and Paul Clark (Julie); her daughter-in-law Julie Clark; and her 34 grandchildren and 20+ great-grandchildren.
Margaret was a devout Catholic with her life centered in Christ, her husband and her family. She was cherished and revered by her children and grandchildren and was a compassionate and steadfast guardian of her family values. In addition to making a warm and welcoming home and raising seven children, Margaret was active outside the home as well. She volunteered for many years at St. Philip Neri as a CCD teacher and at Lighthouse for the Blind. She was a part owner of the Quilt Cottage in New Orleans during the 1980’s and 1990’s. She worked at WalMart in Kenner for 15 years until retiring at the age of 91.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 6500 Kawanee Avenue in Metairie on Saturday, December 17 beginning at 10:30 am until 12:00 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow the visitation. Interment will take place in Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Covenant House or the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
