

Mary O. Hervey, age 69, passed away peacefully at Carpenter House in River Ridge, LA on Wednesday February 14, 2024. Jesus freed her of her pain and suffering and she is now resting peacefully in his loving arms. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, David B. Hervey; mother, Marie A. Sweet; father, Earl Guillory; godfather, Wilfred “Sammy” Abshire; sister, Peggy E. Labit; niece, Rachelle Guillory; mother and father-in-law, Jimmie and John “Pops” Hervey. Mary leaves to cherish her memories a sister who lovingly took care of her for over 5 years, Juanita Landry (John); brother, Michael R. Guillory. Also cherishing her memories are Janice Hervey (known as her favorite niece) (Rob, her favorite nephew); brother-in-law, Rick Hervey; sister-in-law, Vivian Hervey; Aunt Jo Ann and Aunt Shirley (Uncle Steve) from Illinois; her niece, Anita Landry Obenschain (Scott); great niece and nephew, Rex and Isabel (Izzy) Obenschain; godchild, Autumn Labit (“Gerald”); great niece, Zoe Labit and great nephews, Elijah and Adler; her loving cousins from Washington State, Jessica Fernandes (Rick) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many relatives and friends. Mary enjoyed spending time with family, crocheting, listening to music and sharing recipes with her loved ones. Mary also looked forward to visiting her husband at work, Anita’s Smokin Steak Burgers (Boutte, LA) and liked getting to know all of the customers. Mary was a member of the Luling-Boutte Lions Club and was proudly installed by her brother-in-law, IPDG John Landry. The family would like to thank “Carpenter House” and her caring physician, Dr. Jenny Kuo of Ochsner for their excellent care and compassion. Family and friends, members of District 8-S Lions; St. Jude Society at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Metairie, LA; Riverdale High School Staff, Jefferson, LA are invited to attend the funeral service on Monday, February 19, 2024 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with a Rosary at 12:00 PM followed by the Lions “Last Meeting” at 12:30 PM. Funeral Mass starts at 1:00 PM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s chapel with celebrant Reverend Christian Delerno and Deacon James “Chuck” LeBlanc.
