

Michael Anthony DeSalvo, Sr., age 79, of Kenner, LA, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 26, 2025. He was born on April 28, 1946, in New Orleans, LA, to the late Margaret Bergeron and Jack Albert DeSalvo. Michael was preceded in death by his beloved parents; his sister, Jackie; his brother-in-law, Amos Hodges and his nephew, Jack Hodges.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Linda Marie DeSalvo; his sister, Loretta DeSalvo; his twin brother, Donald Joseph DeSalvo, Sr., and a sister-in-law, Nancy DeSalvo. He leaves behind his loving children: a daughter, Tonya Marie Hingle and son-in-law, Craig August Hingle; son, Michael Anthony DeSalvo, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Rachelle DeSalvo and son, Philip John DeSalvo and daughter-in-law, Cristina Lynn DeSalvo. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren - Erica Zea, Victoria Hingle, Emily Alonzo, Garrett Hingle, Aiden DeSalvo, and Blake DeSalvo and his great-grandchildren, Ridge Yancey, Lucas Zea, and August Zea.
Michael proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he dedicated 47 years to law enforcement with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, retiring in 2015 at the rank of Captain.
Known for his larger-than-life personality, Michael had the rare gift of making everyone feel like a lifelong friend. He loved telling stories, making people laugh, and sharing his warmth with those around him. After retirement, he enjoyed attending car shows with his wife and friends, weekend trips to the coast, spending time at his daughter’s camp, and watching football with his sons.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 4337 Sal Lentini Parkway, Kenner, LA 70065, on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. A reception in Michael’s memory will follow in the Community Center next door to Divine Mercy.
