OBITUARY

Michael Wade Sim

12 November, 1954 – 6 February, 2024
IN THE CARE OF

Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home

Michael Wade Sim returned home to the lord on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at the age of 69. He was born on November 12, 1954 in Wellsboro, PA and was a longtime resident of Metairie, LA.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Diane Bert, stepfather, Silas Bert, father, Arthur Sim, and brother, Thomas Sim.

He is survived by his loving wife, Alys Mullen Sim, his children, Christine DeVoe (Daniel) and Gregory Sim (Lindsay), stepchildren, Alexander Breaux and Brandon Breaux, and grandson, Howard Wade DeVoe. He is also survived by his siblings, Patrick Sim (Dee) and Anne Wiebel, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Michael was a retired civil worker for the US Navy. Many people knew him as “Big Mike” and his spirit was as large as his height. He had a bold personality that lit up a room. As a transplant to the New Orleans area, he fell in love with the city and soaked up all that life had to offer, from music to parades to Saints games on Sunday, but he never wavered in his love of Penn State football. Mike loved to hunt, fish, and enjoyed the outdoors. He told the greatest dad jokes and had a roaring laugh to match. He will be missed by many and his passing leaves a void in the lives of his family and friends.
