Myrtle grew up on Bayou Dularge surviving off the land with a very loving family. As a child she only spoke French until attending school. She overcame lockjaw after stepping on a nail and went on to graduate from Terrebonne High School. Upon moving to New Orleans she met, through friends, her future husband, Philip. She was an excellent cook, beautiful seamstress and extremely devout in her faith. Myrtle loved her yard and was happiest while in her garden. She was affectionately known as Mawmaw and will be missed immensely by her daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. Above all we will miss her constant prayers.
Funeral services will be held at St. Clement of Rome Church, 4317 Richland Ave., Metairie, on Tuesday, January 17th, 2023. Visitation hours will take place from 10 am to 12 noon. A Catholic mass will be held at 12 pm following visitation. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Mausoleum, 5454 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans. The family invites attendees to wear color, to reflect her love of gardening. The online guestbook is available at www.leitzeaganfuneralhome.com.
