

Nancy Theresa Abate Edgecombe, age 83, passed peacefully into eternal life with her family by her side on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Raphaella and Philip Abate and wife of the late Aaron Augustus Edgecombe Jr. Nancy leaves behind her dear sister, Mrs. Nina Mae Chachere. She was the beloved mother of the late Phillip Marino Sr., Joseph T. Marino III (Angeli) and Aaron Ann Sealy (Frank). Nancy was a doting grandmother to 5 grandchildren-the late Phillip Marino Jr. , Jason “Precious” Marino (Melissa), Wesley Rounsaville (Katie), Lauren Hakin (Mark), and Lexie Sealy. She also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren Chase, Jayla, Brently, Cooper, Gianna, Harper and Olivia. Nancy was born and raised in New Orleans and lived most of her adult life in Mandeville. She enjoyed travelling and had a passion for dancing. She deeply enjoyed her time spent with her many friends at Spitzfaden Community Center in Mandeville. There, she participated in many activities including a line dancing team which performed for schools, hospitals and nursing homes.
Friends and family are invited to gather for a Memorial Mass to be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Boulevard in Metairie on Wednesday April 8, 2015 at 7pm. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9pm. Interment will be at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans. The family would like to thank the entire SICU nursing staff (especially Jody, Christine, both Megans, Marc and Cory) and Dr. Pernenkil at Slidell Memorial Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion during her final days.
