PHILIP J. LOBELL, JR., on Friday, February 7, 2025, went home to be with his Lord and Savior. Philip was born to Philip J. Lobell, Sr. and Lucille Champagne Lobell on July 28, 1937, at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans. He married his wife of 64 years, Linda Thomas Lobell, on January 27, 1958, when she was still in high school, and he was serving in the U.S. Navy. Upon his discharge they made their home in New Orleans before moving to Harahan, where they raised their family. He was a wonderful father who was devoted to his family, always putting them first. He was also a patriot who loved his country dearly. Philip is the beloved father of Thomas, Patricia (Chris), Philip (Julie), Shannon (Aaron) and Lindy. Also survived by ten grandchildren: Tech. Sgt. Michael Case, USAF, Andrew LaBorde, Grant LaBorde, Julia LaBorde, Brooke Lobell Ingraffia, Daniel Thompson, Samantha Thompson, Quinn Champagne, Matthew Sells and Thomas Sells. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Joseph and Hallie. Also mourning his loss are siblings, Lucille Lobell Locantro, Adler (Buddy) Lobell, Paul J. Lobell, and Dorothy Lobell Lanham, as well as special in-laws, Hugh Thomas and Nancy Thomas. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Thomas Lobell; parents, Philip and Lucille Lobell; brother, Harold Lobell, Sr., special in-laws: Lowell Thomas, Barbara Thomas, Jimmy Thomas, Gale Kanipes, James Evans, Carolyn Evans and numerous other family members and friends, who he is surely now rejoicing with.
The family would like to thank the amazing nurses at East Jefferson General Hospital for the tender, loving care he received during his ten days there. Chris Dysart and the staff at Synergy Physical Therapy are second to none. They provided our dad with physical therapy, friendship, and fun over the last few years. Finally, thank you to his friends and neighbors on Norton Avenue who always looked out for him and kept a close eye on him, especially “the girls”, Nancy and Kathy. Rest in peace, Dad. We will love and miss you forever.
The family will receive friends at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie, LA on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. The service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend David Lofthus, Faith Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
