

Sadaye Okubo Parham, age 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, August 13, 2017 in Metairie, Louisiana. Mrs. Parham was born in Gardena, California on October 13, 1938 to Hiroji and Fumiko Okubo. She moved with her family to the Rohwer War Relocation Center in Arkansas in 1942, and then to New Orleans, Louisiana in 1946. She graduated from East Jefferson High School in 1956 and from Tulane University in 1961. She enjoyed a successful career as a computer and software analyst, working for companies that included IBM, Shell Oil, and various local businesses. Sadaye was very active in the Ikebana Society in New Orleans, and she often enjoyed reading mystery novels. She was the loving wife for close to 52 years to Frederick Parham. Mother of Adele Daniel (Robert). Sister of Alice Motoko Doi (Jimmy), Kazuko Dorothy Wing, Sumiye Okubo (Ronald Debnam), Ronald Sejiwo Okubo, and the late Dolly Matsuye Okubo. Aunt of Louis Matsumura, Ella Mae Matsumura, Linda Matsumura, Glenn Doi, Nancy Doi Morbach, Mark Doi, Deborah Wing, Karen Wing, Eric Wing, Christopher Okubo, and Nicholas Okubo. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Sadaye Parham may be made to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund (34 Washington Street, Suite 200, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481), Spaymart (PO Box 6493, Metairie, LA 70009-6493), or a charity of your choice. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and celebrate her life at the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie, LA, on Monday, August 21, 2017 beginning at 1:00 pm. All who wish to attend the memorial service are welcome to at 2:00 pm in Leitz-Eagan’s chapel immediately after the visitation.
