

Tim Tyler Ziifle, age 75, of Gretna, Louisiana passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 12, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents, the late Ralph R. Ziifle and Elodie Christensen Ziifle, and his chosen son, Brian Elrod. He is survived by his partner and companion in life of 23 years Donna Jean Webb, daughter Alisha Elrod (partner Philip Brock), and grandson, Julien Sheehan. Tim is also survived by his aunt, Dorothy Loupe, uncle, C.J. Christensen, and cousins, Mary Ellen Philip, Anita Gail Loupe, Johnathan Christensen, Jeremy Christensen, and Kim Christensen.
Tim's father opened up Gretna Gun Works on Tim's birthday, August 14, 1948. His mother would often say Tim grew up in the gun shop since birth, bringing him to work with her every day. He grew up to become a homicide detective with the New Orleans Police Department at an early age. After his father Ralph passed away in 1983, his loving mother continued running the business with Tim by her side. He was a ballistics expert who patented and manufactured body armor for the safety of military and law enforcement officials. He built the first indoor shooting range in Jefferson Parish at Gretna Gun Works, Inc. Tim was a well-known entrepreneur and consultant in his field, who was sought out by many entities. He retired in 2000 and traveled the world with his beloved Donna Jean.
Friends and relatives are invited to a Celebration of Life for Tim on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, Louisiana 70006 beginning at 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, 901 Beverly Garden Dr. Metairie, LA 70002, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. A private inurnment will take place at a later date.
