William Gerard Kampen, Sr. on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 11:00 pm. Aged 87 and a native of New Orleans residing in Metairie for the past 45 years. Beloved husband of the late Thelma Betz Kampen, special friend of Patricia Porche Hartmann. Father of Carolynn K. Moncrief (Dennis), William G. Kampen Jr. (Jami) and Mary K. Pertuit (Freddie). Son of the late Joseph James Kampen and Margaret Smith. Brother of Lois K. Bono, Joseph C. Kampen, Patricia K. Constant, Joan K. Ganucheau, and the late Barbara K. Park, Leah K. Rosevally, and Margaret Kampen. Grandfather of Jane Moncrief, William Moncrief, Katie Kampen, Kellie Kampen, Emily Pertuit, and Elise Pertuit. He was a WWII Navy Veteran serving on the Destroyer Escort USS Brister and the Destroyer USS Russell. He was also a 4th degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, Father Seelos Chapter. Retired from Plumbing Specialty Co. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 6425 West Metairie Avenue, on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 12:00 noon. Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 12:00 in church. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery No. 1. Arrangements by Leitz-Eagan.
