

Alberto Vilar Duarte, born September 27th, 1949 in Havana, Cuba. The youngest of five brothers and sisters. The son of Antonio Vilar and Encarnacion Duarte Vilar passed away on Monday, March 14th, 2011. He leaves his daughter Janet Barbara Vilar and her husband, Dmitri Robaina; granddaughters Nina Alexis and Sarah Ann; grandson Dimitri and many close friends and relatives.
Immigrated to the United States in 1981 from Cuba in pursued of freedom from Fidel Castro’s communist regime in the infamous exodus that took place in Cuba’s Mariel Harbor. He came on the boat named Lady Virgo. Short after his migration from Cuba to the United States he married Elizabeth Martinez on January 24th, 1983. They divorced a year later. From his marriage to Elizabeth, he fathered his only daughter Janet Barbara Vilar born September 2nd, 1982. Later in his life he married Adelaida Vazquez to whom he spent many years but separated twelve years before his death.
Mr. Vilar was an avid spectator of soccer matches; he had a passion for dancing, and a love for music. He was a romantic and spent his time reminiscing about the past. In his circle of friends he was known to be a splendid storyteller and joker.
