

Ana was born June 15, 1976 in Flint, MIchigan to Sixto and Margarita (Mendez) Calvo.
She graduated from Swartz Creek High School in 1994, where she honed her team work and team spirit skills playing basketball, volleyball and softball. After high school Ana attended Mott Community College where she continued playing softball. In 2000, Ana received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Central Michigan University.
Immediately after graduation Ana moved to Miami. Always a caring person with an adventurous, fun-loving spirit, she began helping others attain entrance into colleges, universities, and/or their professional fields of interest with the Kaplan Test Center where she oversaw two centers. Students from all over the world adored her as she deeply cared about their well-being.
Ana’s positive work ethic contributed to her role as an Inspector and Investigator for the State of Florida Department of Health. She thoroughly enjoyed going to work everyday. Ana would always say, “she felt so loved by her bosses and all her co-workers. It was hard work, however, she enjoyed the professionalism and family atmosphere”.
Ana met the love of her life in Miami and married Luis Sanchez. Their unconditional love for each other endured for 22 years. Family was utmost important to Ana. She took great delight in organizing family gatherings. She loved family picnics, holidays, and creating itineraries for family events and excursions. Everyday she lit up a room with her beautiful smile, bright green eyes, warm heart, and positive disposition.
Ana Maria Calvo loved her family. She is preceded in death by her father, Sixto. She is survived by her husband, Luis, mother, Margarita, sisters, Sue Calvo, Cristina Hutchins (Chris), brother, George Calvo (Barbara); mother-in-law, Marta Sanchez, sister-in-law Grisel Sanchez. Nieces and nephews Katie, Mike, and Nick Calvo, Danny Hutchins and Alicel Sanchez, beloved dogs Charlee, Maxi, and Murphy. She brought them happiness and joy. They will miss her gentle nature, infectious laugh, immense strength, determination, courage, and zest for life. Ana will be missed forever and always.
The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 11:30 a.m., at St. Brendan Catholic Church, 8725 SW 32 ST, Miami, Florida 33165.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in Ana Calvo’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital https://www.stjude.org or the local Humane Society.
