Christina "Tina" Mercedes Mazzarella gracefully exited this life on the clear Miami morning of November 23rd, after more than 70 years of world-traveling, hustling-and-bustling, movin'-and-shakin', and making her mark. She was born January 8, 1953, in Miami, Florida, and graduated Class of 1971 from Norland HS before obtaining her BA '75 at Florida State University.
Her sense of adventure sent her across the world to Florence, Italy, and to the Great Wall of China; her passion for theatre, music and the arts she shared with her nearest and dearest; her business mind elevated her to the 72nd floor in NYC's Twin Towers as VP stockbroker with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter; and her fierce love for her family made her a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, friend and tia abuela to her loved ones.
Tina is survived by her sister, Adri, who went above and beyond to provide love and support through to the very end; her nieces Julia Sonnenburg (Dereck), and Marissa Eshel (Oded), her nephew Stephen Bagg, Jr.(Jeff), great nieces Ellie Eshel, Mila Eshel, and Sophia Sonnenburg, great-nephews Luke Eshel, Ethan Sonnenburg, and William Sonnenburg, many loving cousins, and the growing extended family of Baggs, Mazzarellas, Eshels and Sonnenburgs.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 29th, at St. Luke the Physician Episcopal Church, followed by a burial at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn South.
In lieu of flowers, Tina's family suggests donations to be sent in her name to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS organizations.
