John E. Adessi, 87, of Miami, Florida, passed away on March 21st, 2026. Born on September 14th, 1938 in Providence, Rhode Island, John was the son of John Adessi and Lucy (DiChiaro) Adessi and brother to Ann Adessi and Alfred Adessi.
John graduated from Central High School in Providence. After serving two years in the U.S. Army, he attended night school at Providence College to study computers. He built a long career as a software engineer, retiring from CVS in Woonsocket, Rhode Island after 18 years. He also worked for Puritan Life Insurance, the Outlet Company and Carol Cable, where he met his wife Cecile. John had a lifelong love of art and sports. He enjoyed reading about, illustrating and painting Thoroughbred horses. He possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of horse racing and baseball, especially the New York Yankees and loved watching Thoroughbred racing, baseball, golf and tennis.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Cecile (Vaillancourt) Adessi; his son Michael and his wife, Christina; his son Steven and his wife, Gabriela; his grandchildren Gianluca, Nicolas, Dominic and Arianna; and his brother Alfred. John was preceded in death by his parents John & Lucy Adessi and his sister Ann Adessi.
