Magali Acosta was born December 20, 1926, she was a woman of faith, a leader among her peers, an exceptional educator, and a devoted parent and grandparent.
Her career started in La Habana, Cuba at El Colegio de la Luz, Phillips School and Artes y Oficios Technical School where she taught English.
Magali loved the arts. She and her best friend Sylvia partnered to teach dance at their beloved Sylvia M. Goudie Studios where she directed the Spanish Dance department. This was more than a dance studio, it was a place where many girls learned to dance, acquire self confidence and most importantly learned to value friendships. it was a way of life which led many to successful careers as teachers, public speakers, and exceptional talented young women.
Magali's career flourished as an educator upon her arrival into exile in the United States where she held distinguished positions as a teacher, principal and Region Director in Miami-Dade County
Public Schools. On a personal note, her children and grand-children affectionately referred to her as Abi, and in many ways she considered this as her most important vocation. Her family and her faith were always first and she will be sorely missed by her family, friends, and students.
Acosta is survived by her children Robert and Liane and her grand children Joel, Ryan, Madison and Robert.
