Pedro Saavedra, 95, of Havana, Cuba, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 19, 1930, in Güines, Cuba, to Alcadio and Josefa Saavedra.
Pedro was known for his strong spiritual beliefs, his deep love for God, and his kind and gentle soul. He was a devoted Christian, a loving father, and a man who cherished his family above all else. His faith guided his life, and his legacy of love, strength, and devotion will live on in all who knew him.
In the early 1950s, Pedro traveled to New York City with just a small suitcase, beginning a journey that would soon inspire his mother and siblings to follow. He later married his beloved wife, Clara, and together, through hard work and dedication, they built a strong Christian foundation on which to raise their family.
He is survived by his children, Pedro Saavedra Jr. and his wife, Miriam Saavedra; Claribel Saavedra; Damaris Aguirre and her husband, Mario Aguirre; his grandchildren, Peter Saavedra, Yvette Ancona, Marcy Saavedra, Cindy Roman, Mindy Saavedra, George Saavedra, William Aguirre, James Aguirre, Victoria Saavedra, and Elizabeth Saavedra; his sibling, Julia Zunilda Torres; his great-grandchildren, Sarah, Peter, Vanessa, Natalie, Mia, Magdelyn, Mileena, Misha, Marley, Danielle, Penelope, Oscar, Andres, Mikaeyla; and his great-great-grandchildren, Dominick, Maleni, AJ, and Maily.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Clara Saavedra; his sisters, Eva Saavedra, Julia Garcia, Lucresia Martinez, and Delfina Sanchez; and his brothers, Jose Saavedra and Anastasio Saavedra.
Pedro lived a long and beautiful life. Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of the Lord. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
