Saide was born to Digna & Ramon Ortiz in Isla De Pino Cuba, a small island off the mainland. She was the youngest of 3 daughters and loved her mom but she was a total daddy’s girl who loved spending time with her beloved father when he drove his clients around the island. She was proud to say she" learned to drive at 7 years old" on her dad's lap. As a young lady, she volunteered at the Catholic church and taught Catechism classes. Once the Cuban revolution began, she opposed it by distributing anti Castro material in the community at great risk. After many years of delay by the communist regime, the family was finally granted exile to the United States in 1969 and later arrived in Miami.
On Sept 5th, 1979, she proudly became an American citizen. Throughout her life, she worked hard to provide for her parents and helped raise her niece when her sister became a widow. Later in life she loved on and spoiled her grand-nephew and grandson by marriage. She always did what she could to help make things a little nicer or a little better for the children in the family. She married the love of her life, Pedro, and they shared nearly 30 wonderful years together.
She worked in accounts receivable at Lindsey Lumber for about 20 years and later at Office Depot for another 20+ years as a cashier and at the customer service desk until she retired. Early in life she wanted to join the police force but didn’t for her mother's sake.
She loved the water and to fish on land or boat, going to Jai-Ali with her favorite aunt Santa, Naked Gun movies of the 80s and most action movies and tv police shows.
Always happy & charismatic, generous & kind. The "fun aunt" you could count on to get you out of trouble.
A loving and wonderful daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, godmother, grandmother & wife who will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
