

Silvia Lopez, an exceptional woman who was an inspiration to all, passed away peacefully on March 6th, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on May 17th, 1926, in Havana, Cuba, she possessed an unwavering spirit, kindness, and generosity that left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Throughout her life, Silvia defied expectations and overcame obstacles with grace and determination. She was a woman of decisiveness, strength, and optimism who courageously left her life behind in Cuba on August 11th, 1962, to move to the United States with her two young children to escape communism. She faced the obstacles of a new language and a different way of life for the sake of her children while transitioning from being a homemaker to working jobs she had never done before. She was always willing to offer a helping hand and a warm heart to those in need. Her legacy of strength and compassion will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched.
She was a loving and dedicated mother. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Miriam Lopez-Gonzalez (Fidel Gonzalez), and her loving son, Eduardo L. Lopez (Lourdes Madariaga). She was a devoted grandmother to Fabian Gerardo Gonzalez, Edward Lopez (Stephanie Lopez), and Alexandra Lopez-Fulghum (Frank Fulghum). She was also a proud great-grandmother to Charlotte Fulghum, Audrey Fulghum, Annabella Lopez, and Sophia Lopez. Silvia also leaves behind family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Her family, friends, and community will continue to carry forward the lessons she imparted through her remarkable journey. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, March 13th, 2025, at Caballero Rivero Funeral Home, located at 8200 Bird Road, Miami, Florida 33155 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A religious ceremony will follow in her honor at St. Raymond of Penafort Catholic Church from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. The church is located at 3475 S.W. 17th Street, Miami, Forida 33145. Entombment is scheduled for March 13th, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn North, located at 3260 S.W. 8th Street, Miami, Florida 33155. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to her favorite charity, the American Red Cross.
