Susan Young Petrine

Susan Young Petrine, born June 27, 1952, in Coral Gables, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on April 8, 2026, at the age of 73.

Susan was born to Jack and Bette Young, was raised in Coral Gables, Florida, and graduated from Coral Gables High School. She received her Associate of Arts degree from Miami Dade College.

Susan married Larry Deddy and together they had three beautiful children. After her divorce, Susan went on to marry her loving husband of 29 years, Alan Petrine, and lived in Coral Gables, Florida.

Susan’s life was devoted to raising her children, and she was deeply involved in their lives. She served on the PTA board and was a homeroom mother for her children’s classes. She was a constant presence in her children’s activities. She was a doting mother who hosted parties, traveled, and always kept an open home for her family and friends.

Susan also started a close-knit group known as the “Troopers,” lifelong friends whom she considered sisters and who remained an important part of her life. She loved food, sharing meals with family and friends, and was known as a wonderful storyteller who could captivate those around her with her humor, memories, and heart.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Alan Petrine; her son, Gregory Deddy; her daughter, Nicole Deddy (Arek); and her brother, Rocky (Kristine). She was a proud mother of three and a loving grandmother to four grandchildren: Taylor, Logan, Jax, and Finley. She also held a special place in her heart for her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Natalie, and her brother Gavin. She is now reunited with them, as well as her parents, Jack and Bette Young, in eternal peace.

Susan will be remembered for her strength, warmth, and sense of humor, as well as the laughter she brought into every room. Her unique personality had a way of drawing people to her.

A funeral service will be held at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn South, 11655 SW 117th Ave, Miami, FL 33186, on April 27, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM. A committal service will follow from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM.

She will be deeply missed, loved, and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
