Yolanda Eduarda Acosta Dominguez, born October 13, 1937, moved on to eternal life with our Lord on the morning of Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2020. Yolanda passed away peacefully in her sleep from natural causes at her home of five decades in Miami, Florida, after being bed-ridden for the past 11 years from the slow progression of her MS diagnosis. She was survived by her husband of 50-plus years Graciliano Dominguez, her daughter Yolanda Muniz Ramos, and her son Eduardo Judas Dominguez, as well as her four grandchildren Jonathan Ramos, Christopher Ramos, Michelangelo Dominguez, Raphael Dominguez, and her great-granddaughter Sofia Ramos.
Yolanda was born in Ampliacion de Alemendares, Havana, Cuba, to parents Graciela Giral and Jose Acosta. Seeking a safer and more hopeful future for her family, she immigrated to the United States with her daughter on September 21, 1967, initially settling down in the Bronx, New York, with her aunt and uncle Raul and Berta Acosta. Seeking to further the career she initially began in Cuba as a telecommunications operator, Yolanda relocated to Miami, Florida, where she was hired by Bellsouth (now AT&T) from where she retired after 40-plus years as a corporate administrator.
Yolanda was a devout Catholic for her entire life, and was a member of Little Flower Parish in Coral Gables, Florida, where she made sure that her children and grandchildren also received their sacraments, including the holy matrimony of her daughter Yoly to Luis Alberto Ramos and her son Eddy to Holly Margaret Dominguez. In her spare time, Yolanda loved to travel with her family, having had the good fortune of visiting Europe, South America, and most of North and Central America. Above all, Yolanda loved to take her whole family on cross-country RV trips and on a record number of Caribbean cruises.
All friends and family fondly recall Yolanda’s jovial and warm-natured personality, as well as her hosting of countless family reunions and holiday celebrations in her home. She will be missed by all who were blessed and fortunate enough to have made her acquaintance, and she will leave behind a legacy of love and hope.
Final arrangements are being handled by Caballero Rivero Funeral Home in Little Havana, Florida. An Entombment service for Yolanda will be held Monday, November 30, 2020, from 1:45 PM to 2:30 PM at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn North Mausoleum, 3260 S.W. 8th Street, Miami, FL 33135.
