

He was born March 12, 1928 in Barnesville, Ohio. After high school he served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, where he was a track vehicle mechanic. He began working at DP&L as a shift engineer and retired as a supervisor of operations after 30 years of service. Allan was an active member and an elder at Central Presbyterian Church in West Carrollton. At the age of 74, he began competing in Masters Track & Field throwing the Shot Put. He finished 3rd nationally in his age group in 2011. Allan thoroughly enjoyed gardening, boating, and camping; but his true love was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Marilyn (Lambert); children, Barry (Tammy) Ward of Miamisburg and Brent (Diane) Ward of Hermitage, PA; grandchildren, Zach Ward, Amy (Dan) Ott, Brandon Ward, Hailey (Justin) Larkin; soon to be great granddaughter, Riley Jo Larkin; brothers, Clifford “Jerry” Ward of Barnesville and Wayne “Zeke” (Trudi) Ward of Tiffin; step-sisters, Dorothy (Bruce) Henderson of St. Clairsville and Eileen (Bob) Detling of Uniontown; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Allan was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Ward; his mother and step-father, Mary (John) Campbell.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 PM on Monday, December 26, 2016 at GEBHART-SCHMIDT-PARRAMORE Funeral Home, 508 E. Linden Ave., Miamisburg, OH 45342. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday at Central Presbyterian Church, West Carrollton, with Rev. Cliff Haddox officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Valley Memory Gardens, Centerville.
