

COURTNEY, William Arthur “Bill”, age 77 of Dayton and formerly of Miamisburg passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Heartland of Beavercreek. He was born July 23, 1936 in Dayton, OH to the late Archie and Margaret M. (Decker) Courtney. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte A. (Hall) Courtney in 2000; his step-father, Maurice L. Collins and brother, Ernest E. Coutney. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Sherry Courtney of Miamisburg; nephews, George Courtney of Kentucky and Christopher Courtney of Georgia, a cousin, Lois (Frenchy) Garneau of Florida and extended family, Cindy, Quinn and Hunter Moffitt and Rhonda, Sade and Prentice Long all of Dayton. Bill attended West Carrollton High School and then served in the United State Air Force. He was employed for the majority of his career at Dayton Superior Corp. and enjoyed bowling and golfing in his leisure. Bill was Methodist by faith and was greatly loved by his friends and neighbors. A memorial service will be held 6:30 PM Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg with military honors and officiated by Pastor Joe Getts. His ashes will be privately interred at Hillgrove Cemetery, Miamisburg. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society at P.O. Box, 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
