David was born in Cleveland, the son of the late Gerard and Helen Bonner Stiller. David is the beloved husband of 53 years to Gloria (nee Loebick; loving father of Christina Bratko Moyer (deceased), Dianna Stiller (Kevin Dickinson) and Stephanie Stiller (Jeremy van't Veer); cherished grandfather of Joseph Horvath, Lauren Richter (Arick), Mary Paz-Chiguina (Xavier) and great-grandfather of Sophie, Lucy, Oliver, Emma and Lucas; dear brother of the late Susan (Thomas) Shook and Bruce Stiller; adored uncle and friend of many.
A proud United States Marine Corps veteran, he lived a life marked by service, strength, and quiet wisdom. After his time in the military, he devoted 35 years as an electrician for the railroad—a job he tackled with unmatched skill and unwavering dedication. There wasn’t a machine he couldn’t fix, a broken thing he couldn’t breathe life back into. A natural mechanic, his hands told stories of hard work, ingenuity, and persistence.
But he wasn’t just defined by what he did—he was known for who he was. Quirky in the best way, with a sharp wit and a mind as curious as it was capable, he was incredibly well-read and deeply intelligent. His favorite pastimes were simple but meaningful—diving into a good book, cherishing time with his family, and sharing laughter over breakfast with his old railroad friends.
He loved a good game of pinochle, and could hold a hand of cards, and a room, with equal finesse. Whether fixing a motor, sharing a story, or playing cards, he brought warmth, loyalty, and a spark of humor to every moment.
He will be missed deeply by those who knew and loved him, but his legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the family he adored, and the quiet strength he brought into the world.
All services will be private. He will be laid to rest with US Marine Corp Military Honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.
