I got to know about Dennis before I ever met him in person. I had been detailed to the CPD Personnel Unit conducting background investigations on prospective police applicants. I never encountered anyone who had a bad thing to say about him. A few years later I was assigned to the Impact Task Force on the same shift with Dennis and I got to meet him in person. Dennis was a very good police officer, upright and honest, very good to work with. My sincere sympathy to your family on your loss. Rest in Peace Dennis, you did well,

I will never forget that at every holiday, special occasion growing up Uncle Denny would be the first to say hello and ask us what kind of drink we wanted … always a fun time with my Uncle. You will be missed by everyone. Enjoy being reunited with Aunt Patsy, Karen, Grandma Hall, Grandpa Hall, Uncle George, Aunt Diane, My Dad, to name a few… until we meet again, love you.  My sincere condolences 💐 to my cousins Keith , Kevin and Kenny. Dad will always be with you! 🫶🏼

Dennis, " Denny Gunsch "
Lieutenant Cleveland Police Department.  Twenty-eight years of dedicated service.
Always First !  His family.
He was a husband and Father, who loved his family!!
Denny often shared with me stories about his parents and the hard work ethic they instill in him.
His Love for his wife and children.  His beautiful loving family.
He was so proud of you!!
A  Police Officer who I had the privilege to work with on many difficult issues;  as an Internal Affairs Sergeant, Denny was our lead man.
As the Officer in Charge of the Homicide Unit Dennis never lost his sensitivity for the Victims of the crimes nor the respect he had for the detectives who investigated them.
Dennis, I know the pain is gone, you were an example to all of us how strong men live.
I will miss our calls!

Sending our condolences to Denny’s family for the loss of their Dad, brother, and grandfather, and all the relatives and  friends who will miss him. 
We met Denny and Pat  thru his sister Debbie.  We were friends ever since. 
Such nice people. We had a lot of good times with them in Ohio and  each year when they came to Florida to escape the cold we would visit.

He was the Lt. and I was one of the Sgt's.

We also worked in the 6th District .

He was one of the best Supervisors I knew and a good friend.

Dennis was the epitome of what a police officer should be.  He was steady, honest and fair.  From his early years in the Impact Task Force, through all of his promotions and assignments, he did not change and did not get caught up in the political circus that swept the department in more recent times.   His integrity in sensitive positions like Internal Affairs and Homicide meant everyone got a fair shake.

Thank you to his family that shared him with public service for over forty years.  May he rest in peace.
