He was born on March 26, 1952 in Lakewood Ohio to his parents, the late George T. and Rose Poporad.
George is survived by his wife Suzanne and children Christie (Christian), Jamie (Dave) and George Jr. (Amy). Grandaddy to Cassie Rose (Joe), Brandon, Isabell Rose, Emma Rose and Addie Rose.
Great-Grandaddy to Aidan and Abby Rose. Brother of Ron (Patti) and Diane Rose (Bill).
Doggie Dad to Penny Rose.
George was a devoted husband for 47 years and a proud father and grandaddy. Fully committed to his family, he will be forever remembered for always making them his first priority. George was a 1970 graduate of Brooklyn High School. While in school he was co-captain of the baseball team, president of student council and president of Key Club. He graduated from Ashland College in 1974. George was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He was a communications major and had his own radio show on WRDL (Ashland College). After college, George moved to Washington, D.C. where he met Suzanne and went to work for Marriott Corp. He held many leadership positions during his career including VP of Franchise Operations & Marketing for Restaurant Developers/Mr. Hero Corp., and VP and General Manager of Villaware. He moved his family back to Brooklyn, Ohio in 1978. George served as President of the Brooklyn City School Board, a member of the Polaris School Board and ran for Mayor of Brooklyn in 2011.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, March 5 at Grace Church, 7393 Pearl Rd., Middleburg Heights. Service will begin at 4:00pm. We welcome family and friends to share memories of George and to stay after for food and fellowship.
Private burial was held at Westpark cemetery.
