

Joseph French Wimmer (1930–2018) went home to be with the Lord on the morning of Tuesday, January 30, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Joseph was born December 14, 1930 in Winding Gulf, West Virginia, the son of James Claude Wimmer and Carrie Ada Wimmer. He relocated to Cleveland in 1951.
In his early adult years, Joe served in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge. He was an active member of the Cleveland community and pastored a local church alongside his wife of 57 years, Eva Wimmer, since 1981. He loved gardening, raising German shepherds, renovating the home, playing the banjo, and a good cup of coffee.
Joseph was preceded in death by daughter Rita Davis and sisters Evelyn Gordon, Mary Lee Frederick, and Carleen Frederick. He is survived by wife Eva Wimmer; siblings Paul Wimmer, William Thomas Wimmer, Marvin Wimmer and Naomi Elkins; daughters Delores Potter (Joel Potter), Patricia Wimmer-Butler, and Wanda Walker (John Walker); grandchildren Shawn Shorter, DeAnna Carrozzi, David Potter, Keri Fox, Candace Finkelstein, Erica Walker, Kristin Butler, and Rachel Walker; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
The wake for Joseph F. Wimmer will be held at Craciun Funeral Home at 14925 East Bagley Road, in Middleburg Heights at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3rd, 2018. The funeral will directly follow at 12:00 p.m.
