My condolences to Piper and family. I'm sorry  for your loss. From Pipers stories she was a wonderful person.

Tante Marilayne showed us what it meant to be an aunt. Someone that loves you as much as if you were her own. She smiled with us in our happiest moments and encouraged us in our saddest ones. She was a wonderful person that we were blessed to have in our lives. We will miss her and carry her along with us and the things she showed us each day.

I am very sorry to hear to hear of her passing.  She was my first supervisor, she was generous with her kindness and laughter. We made many memories in the Sears basement.

I'm so sorry to hear of her passing.  I worked with her at Sears, and was one of many who thought she was one of the good - and "fun" team managers.  I don't think she realized how many friends she had, till so many of us came to show our love and support at her husband's visitation.  I can't come to hers - But my love and prayers are with you all.

I met Marilayne long before she or I were in the family; my band played at the now-defunct Port o' Call restaurant, and she worked as a server there. We were friends, then we were totally surprised to learn of our family connection years later, sadly, through another funeral. She was always smiling, even in the tough times, and later in life, when Joe was home, we would get a call, usually around 6:30 PM, asking if we had coffee on. We spent countless evenings with both Joe and Marilayne playing games, laughing about family times, and when Joe passed away, they became some of our most cherished memories.

Both Marilayne and Joe were loved by everyone who knew them, and the sad news has hit many of us very hard. If we can take comfort in anything, she has been reunited with Joe, never to part again.  RIP, dear friend, your race is won.

Marilayne was a wonderful big sister.  She taught me many things when we were children such as how to read and play chess.  She stepped in after our mother died with the things I didn't think I could take to our father.

I watched her work two full-time jobs as a young single mother to support her family.  I saw the joy she experienced in her life with her husband, Joe, and four children.  Her pride in them as they grew into productive adults.  Her continued joy when they married and at the birth of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marilayne helped people whenever possible.  She inspired me with the way she handled illness and injury, especially after Joe's death.  While she never denied what she was going through she also never complained.  She often expressed how appreciative she was for the support she received from her children.  What an amazing example she was.

In the last couple of years we had several talks about our shared faith.  Talks that helped both of us grow.  

I will think about her and miss her until the day I join her.
