Marilyn J. Sommerfeld (nee Butze), age 78, of Parma, Ohio passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025. Beloved wife of Larry for 53 years; devoted mother of Nicole Barrick (Paul) and Stacey McNamara (Mike); cherished grandmother of Nate, Ben, and Leilah Barrick; and Josie and Finn McNamara; dear sister of Kenneth Butze (Joyce) and sister in law of Russell Sommerfeld (Joyce); caring aunt of Kenneth Butze (Tracy), Kelly Kelly, Hallie Stewart (Jamie), Brandt Butze (Naomi), Craig Sommerfeld, and Karen Sommerfeld (deceased); and great aunt of many.
Marilyn taught Special Education in Berea and then for the Parma School District. Upon retirement she continued to serve the children with special needs as a trustee of Middleburg Early Education Center (MEEC).
She enjoyed family, friends, serving various church needs, and travel.

The family will receive friends THURSDAY (May 29th) 3-7 PM at the BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 7171 PEARL RD., MIDDLEBURG HTS. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, May 30, 2025 in the church. Interment will be private at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
