Mrs. Mary L Lauderdale, born on July 2, 1938, passed away on December 16, 2025, at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late Dell. Loving mother of Cynthia Ramsey (David), Victoria Hustey (Fredric) and Jeffrey Lauderdale (Amy). Cherished grandmother of Lauren Barr (Alex), Kerry Ramsey (fiance Nino Lopez), Cory Ramsey, Christopher Hustey, Catherine Hustey, Caroline Hustey, Claudia Hustey, Claire Hustey, Julian Lauderdale, Everett Lauderdale, Cordelia Lauderdale and great grandmother of Levi and Lachlan. Dear sister of Della Lofton (late Samuel), Linda Frates (Paul), Floyd Trouten (Marge), (both deceased), Leroy Trouten (Janice) (both deceased), Basil Trouten (Hilda) (both deceased) and Deborah Novak (deceased) (James). Aunt, cousin and friend of many.
After graduating from Martins Ferry High School, Mary went to work in a local bakery before deciding to hop on a train to Alabama to join the Army (Women’s Army Corps/ WAC) in 1957. She worked as a military secretary for 3 years and met her husband, Dell, at Fort Ritchie, Maryland. She remained married to Dell for 60 years, until his passing in 2020. Through the military, they got to see other parts of the world, even living in Paris for a short time. But the military also kept them apart at times, as Mary returned to the US while Dell served in the Vietnam War.
Through it all, Mary’s passion always remained her family, which grew to include 3 children of her own and dozens of others she cared for in her home in her later years. She was a great cook with her lasagna, desserts, and deviled eggs always being a big hit. When asked, she always said her greatest accomplishment in life was the successes of the people whose lives she touched, always putting others’ needs before herself.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated.
